Meet Jonathan Shorey

Founder of Pilot Coach and Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE), Jonathan Shorey is a career aviation educator and contract pilot with a passion for helping others succeed in the air and in life. With over two decades of experience as a flight instructor, dating back to 2001, Jonathan has taught hundreds of pilots and flown a wide range of aircraft, including the Diamond DA20 & DA40, Beechcraft Bonanza series (F33, A36, B36TC, G36), Cessna 414 & 421, and the Piper Cheyenne I.

Jonathan holds Commercial ASEL and AMEL certificates, as well as CFI and AGI ratings. He received his education through the Community College of the Air Force and the Aviation Career Academy. His aviation journey began early with the Civil Air Patrol, where he first discovered his love for flying and teaching.

Drawing on his unique insights as a DPE, Jonathan founded Pilot Coach to better prepare flight students for their checkrides. By focusing on common pitfalls and examiner expectations, he provides practical, judgment-free coaching tailored to each pilot’s needs—helping them build confidence, meet standards, and succeed on the day that matters most.
